Here at Ripple Effect Gifts our founder, Steph Richards, is a strong advocate for local businesses and is passionate about supporting women in small business. Her approach to business is perhaps less traditional than the ‘dog eat dog’ philosophy which has developed over the last couple of decades. Her view is that what goes around comes around.
Be kind and kindness will seek you out.
Be compassionate and compassion will be your friend.
Show love and love shall be yours.
These are simple words but with a profound message and one which all at Ripple Effect Gifts proudly align themselves with.
March the 8th is International Women’s Day.
It is a day to celebrate our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends. And – most importantly – to celebrate ourselves. We acknowledge our contribution to society and commend the impact that we have on the next generation; as women working together and supporting one another, we are strong, determined and successful.
Melinda Gates once said:
“If you are successful, it is because somewhere, sometime, someone gave you a life or an idea that started you in the right direction. Remember also that you are indebted to life until you help some less fortunate person, just as you were helped.”
Melinda Gates’ philanthropic work has been of great benefit to the cause of gender equality and women’s health. However, there are women who are not public figures, but whose beliefs actions and words also create positive change.
Ripple Effect Gifts staff and friends are proud to be associated with the movement created by Steph. The following quotes are an indication of the regard in which she is held:
“Supporting women in business, and especially local women, is an excellent opportunity to express and come together to help watch a business grow. Women are the real back bone to helping grow and nurture the baby called “their business.”
Kym, Geelong
“Women generally are reluctant to pat themselves on the back to celebrate a win in their personal or professional life. For fear of appearing over confident. What we fail to realise is that by shining our own light it encourages those around us to do the same. To compete or empower is a choice, we can walk alone in our journey or embrace the Sisterhood…by lifting each other we also rise ourselves!!”
Shani, Melbourne
“It’s a no brainer for me. Steph’s work ethic is authentic, generous and principled. Being connected with Steph in friendship and business is a privilege. Steph, in honour of International Women’s Day I thank you for your friendship and for being an inspiration to so many of us. Your determination, courage and sheer hard work is amazing. You are indeed the personification of the ripple effect. And now Steph, you will understand that why, as a guest blogger this week, I wasn’t forthcoming about the content of the blog! Happy 8th of March to you and all other women working to support their families.”
